Permanent makeup is the art and science of implanting color into your skin. It is putting the right color in the right place so you can look better naturally. Specialized instruments allow your practitioner to place color into the layer of skin known as the dermis. Because the outermost layer of skin (the epidermis) is always shedding and renewing itself, you are looking at the color through a thin veil of skin. When your procedure is completed, the color will appear darker than the final result. This is because the color is in both the epidermis and the dermis. The color in the top layer will flake off during the healing process.

WHAT IS PERMANENT COSMETICS?

Remember, although the procedures are considered permanent, these procedures do have flexibility in changing color and shape. Colors will appear darker immediately following the procedure but will soften and lighten during the healing process. Based on the way you currently wear your makeup, we will work to create your desired look. We can address any necessary additions or changes in your follow-up visit.

what if i don't like it?

This is the big question. Most of the time, the answer is "no." We use topical anesthetics to numb up the areas we are working on. These creams and liquids are applied to the surface of your skin, and they provide most people with a pain-free and comfortable experience. Some of our clients report a “tingling” sensation or pressure, but most of our clients say that they have a very comfortable, and pleasant experience.
 
Having a procedure done while on your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure, as you will be more sensitive. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. If you have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity and tolerance to the procedure.

does it hurt?

Your skin and how you heal will largely dictate your need for continued pencil or powder. However, permanent makeup is not intended to replace cosmetics completely. Because the color is placed "in" your skin and not "on" your skin, a more natural, softer look results. When you're ready to kick up your heels and go out for a "night on the town," you can apply as much additional makeup as you wish.
